Biography
Philip Anthony Mitchell is a native of Queens, New York and the founder and lead pastor of 2819 Church in Atlanta, Georgia, one of the fastest-growing churches in the United States. He is also the founder of the 2819 Institute. In November 2003, overwhelmed by emptiness, he nearly took his own life; it was during that season that he describes 'the grace of God' intervening. A trip to Israel in December 2018 became the defining moment of his calling, after which he felt a persistent brokenness over the state of the American Church. He founded 2819 Church in 2023, and within two years grew it from fewer than 200 to over 6,000 weekly attendees. He has amassed over 1.4 million TikTok followers and reaches millions online through bold, uncompromising preaching. He is an honors graduate of North Carolina Central University and holds a degree in Pastoral and Church Leadership from Valor Christian College. He has been married to his wife Lena since August 2004 and they have two sons and two daughters.
